Ooh, I really relate to the “you’re so articulate” point. I get a double whammy of that because I’m autistic and I look like a “foreigner” (I was, in fact, born in the exotic land of Pennsylvania). People are either surprised when I speak “good” English, or they just assume I don’t and try to explain basic idioms to me. I hate it! Thank you for writing this awesome piece.
