The past is key to understanding our present. The fact that a lot of the darkest aspects of our past have been sanitised and downplayed in history curriculums is one reason why anti-Blackness (and racism in general) has largely stayed an integral part of many cultures.

“White Pride” is racist, as I explained, because of the terrible history of whiteness being singled out as more inherently valuable than anything else. Diving into the past is important for concepts like this, because we are still being affected by systemic racism in the present and that's something we need to unpack through understanding our history. That’s why I started this blog in the first place!
